How's Your Posture?

If you could see yourself side on, you may be surprised or even alarmed.

The increased use of computers, smartphones and tablets means we’re expected to be on call at the drop of a hat.

Our personal time has shrunk to an all time low with after work and weekends being encroached upon more and more.

The expectation to always be available means we’re now spending crazy amounts of time hunched over our devices, which in turn is generating a potentially serious health disaster.

Many health practitioners who treat the body are reporting increased health issues including spinal curvature, not only in adults but also kids as young as seven. Most people are simply unaware of the alarming dangers associated with this condition, that can cause side effects such as stiff neck, back ache, headaches, migraine and other problems that can lead to permanent damage.

If you work at a desk, early detection of curvature of the spine is essential so it can be corrected. To prevent further degradation you need to introduce regular short breaks, daily stretches and other activities to keep the spine and body supple.

It is also essential to use ergonomic seating that supports your body properly while you work.

To discover the state of your posture and prevent further damage, contact Peter at ChairPro to arrange a free posture and chair assessment at your home office or place of work.

ChairPro partners with Spine & Health chiropractic clinic (Nth Sydney & Crows Nest) to provide a Powerpoint presentation and demonstration in your workplace so you can learn what causes posture problems and how they can be fixed.

You’ll discover how to improve not just your posture, but get relief from pain associated with a bad back, which will help increase your productivity, health and general well-being.

Example of Spine & Health Chiropractic Treatment (example Peter March)

Peter's Posture - before treatment

Before treatment Peter’s head tilted forward by 21°.

His left shoulder was 3° lower than his right.

His left pelvis tilted forward by 10° and his head was tilted 6° to the right.

His “posture number” was 37.

On the side view, note the curve of the upper spine, how his head is tilted forward, and his concave chest.

Peter's Posture after treatment

After treatment Peter’s forward head tilt was reduced from 21° to 11°

His pelvis tilt was reduced from 10° to 2° and the right head tilt was reduced from 6° to 3°.

After just 6 weeks of treatment, Peter’s overall posture no. was reduced from 37 to 13.

His posture number has since reduced to single figures.

Note how much straighter his upper back is, how his chest has expanded, allowing deeper breathing, and his head is now in alignment with the rest of his body. With his improved posture, he has less shoulder and neck pain and can walk and work much easier.
